Innkeeper Nancy and Lon Henderson’s extensive military background has led them to offer a 10% discount to active duty military members, and they also offer free lodging on November 10th to veterans, in honor of Veteran’s day.
Sunset Hill House and Lon and Nancy Henderson donate over $10,000 each year in goods and services to local and national charities. Long standing partners include the North Country Boys and Girls Club and the Bancroft House, our local shelter.
Our facilities – both the inn and the golf course – are often used for fundraising gatherings. We are glad to support, and often partner with, these types of event.
Sunset Hill House is committed to broadening opportunities for all. The inn continues to offer employment with flex hours to the mentally and physically challenged, and to partner with organizations such as the Adaptive Sports Partners of the North Countryand the Bretton Woods Adaptive Sports Program. Innkeeper Nancy also does volunteer work for abused and neglected children. Our ongoing community support has earned Sunset Hill House the National Restaurant Association Restaurant Partner award for NH. Sunset Hill House also supports Taste of the Nation.
We receive many requests for donations every week. I only wish we could support them all - we could fill the inn every single night of the year with 'free' rooms if we did!. Our priority is to support the local community, followed by State and National causes that have a local impact. If you wish to be considered for a donation, please contact us (email is fine) stating why we should choose you over the other hundred requests on our desk, and show us how you impact the local community or the more broad 'greater good'. Also, you will need to attest to your nonprofit status (your federal id number usually does the trick). All requests go to our awards committe, which meets the beginning of each month. If you are selected, we'll send you a certificate. if you are not, you wont hear from us. Due to the huge demand we just cannot respond individually to each request.
