1/21/2011
Internationally acclaimed landscape artist Stapleton Kearns will be painting
and instructing at Sunset Hill House January 29-30 and February 5-6. Mr Kearns will be leading his third and fourth “snowcamp” workshops at the inn, teaching techniques for painting snowy landscapes, and working in very cold climates.
A master craftsman, Kearns is a firmly established contemporary American Artist with a wealth of experience in the “New White Mountain School”. His work was an integral part of the Ammonoosuc Conservation Trust benefit show held at Sunset Hill House in 2009. He is an elected member of the Guild of Boston Artists and his paintings have been included in the Biannual Show at the National Academy of Design in New York City.
Kearns is a lavish and eccentric individual with high standards of professional integrity who will not skimp on time or detail in his work. "If it isn't an A then it is not art." Having been a part of R H Ives Gammell's atelier in Boston in the 1970's, his home is in New England.
