Sunset Hill Golf Course is open for the 2012 season!!!

The Sunset Hill Golf Course first opened to the public in 1897, making it the oldest designed 9-hole golf course  in New Hampshire. In 1900, Bowles & Hoskins, proprietors of the Grand Hotel Sunset Hill House, built the oldest extant clubhouse in New Hampshire. Both course and clubhouse are now on the NH State Historical Register, boasting play for every season of the last 110 years.

Today, the course at Sunset Hill is virtually unchanged from its original 1897 layout. The first four holes enjoy a 360 degree view of the White Mountains to the east, and Green Mountain views  to the west. The other five holes run through the scenic hills and dales of Sugar Hill, and offer views of individual peaks of the White Mountains and Vermont's Green Mountains. Plus, our golf course is the best place to see the magnificent New Hampshire sunsets from which Sunset Hill, Sunset Hill Road, the Sunset Hill House Inn and the Sunset Hill Golf Course got their names.

Play is fairly straightforward and somewhat shorter than the average. (In 1897, with hickory clubs and leather balls, 2000 yards for nine  holes must have seemed a lot longer!) Many of the original hazards from that era remain, and despite modern equipment, they often make play much more strategic than the yardage suggests.

Six of the nine holes are par 4s, the rest par 3s, with only the first hole having a water hazard. It's an excellent course to play if you’re looking to introduce someone to golf, if you want to play a quick round with fantastic views, if you want affordable unlimited Golf-and-Stay packages or if you simply want to have fun!
