Wedding Planning
We'll help you plan the wedding of your dreams. On your wedding day, we will deliver your bridal bouquets and boutonnières, gather your wedding party and help you manage your timetable. If your ceremony is on site, we can help direct your rehearsal the day before and we’ll manage your ceremony setup, ensure your guests are seated, cue your musicians and launch you down the aisle. For wedding receptions, we’ll direct your musicians, photographers and baker, and help you with your receiving line and ensure your guests are seated. We’ll even coordinate with your MC and photographer for announcements, first dance and cake cutting.
All these wedding planner responsibilities are included for Sunset Hill House weddings at no additional charge, so that you can relax and enjoy your White Mountain wedding day.
Wedding Ceremonies & Receptions
Ceremonies for up to 300 guests can take place in our perennial garden or wildflower field, or at our arbor – all with the White Mountain View as a backdrop – or on our golf course overlooking the Sunset and Green Mountains. Indoors or on our deck, we can accommodate ceremonies for up to 120 guests. Smaller rooms are also available.
Sunset Hill House customizes each ceremony and wedding reception to the unique dreams of each couple. Most weddings fall into one of three types:
Intimate weddings can take place almost any day and do not offer amplified music which could disrupt other guests. They may include dining. There is no lodging requirement, though rooms may be available.
Traditional weddings are hosted from 11am to 5pm, almost any day except Saturdays in peak season. They include dining, music and dancing. There is no lodging requirement, though rooms may be available.
Resort-style destination weddings are our most sought after option. The inn and its grounds are exclusively yours for the evening or the weekend.
Activities: Plan on music and dancing into the evening with a band or a DJ of your choice. Perhaps a glowing firebowl to sit around.
Lodging: Your guests occupy the inn’s 30 rooms for one or two nights. No other overnight guest will be permitted on site. Discounted rates apply for the 3rd night and beyond, in most cases. Any room not rented by your party will be billed to the master account.
Dining: We’ll welcome your guests to a fabulous rehearsal dinner if you are hosting a two-night event. In-house guests receive a free wedding day breakfast. On your wedding day, our chefs will create your wedding reception meal to your specifications. The following day, your in-house guests will enjoy the included farewell brunch, and you can even invite others to join you. A group lunch can be available on either day. And we’ll certainly supply a bride’s or groom’s “sustenance platter” for your own lunch if you wish. Food and beverage sales minimums are in place for each day of your event and vary by time of year.
Availability: Two night events are available year round, except certain holidays. One night events are available in quieter seasons or in peak season Sunday through Thursday.
How much does it cost to get married at Sunset Hill House?
We have hosted weddings from $500 to over $100,000. There are five lines on every wedding bill:
Food: Depending on your meal choice, this can range from $25-$100+ per person.
Beverage: Can range from 0-$50+ per person.
NH state Rooms and Meals tax: Currently 9%.
Service charge, including all gratuities: 19%
Facility and ceremony fee: This is the charge for use of our facilities and grounds, and includes all setup, cleanup, standard linens, ceremony if your wedding is on site, wedding planning and coordination. This fee depends on date and type of event, and number of guests. Private and traditional events can range from $200-$2000. Destination wedding events generally range from $750-$3000.
Do we provide “free” lodging for the wedding couple?
No – the innkeeper thinks that that is just duplicitous and won’t pad your bill elsewhere to pay for the “free” room. We strive to be transparent and honest in all we do.
